April 17, The 2011 breeding season has begun in earnest, despite the weather, Several bluebird nests in boxes along the trails including 3 with eggs. One chickadee nest for good measure.
Here is one of the nestboxes I built from kits for Blandford Nature Center. The Nature Center Staff have cleared a lot of brush this spring, and it has paid off already with a bluebird nest! Wahoo!
I have Bluebirds! Looks like five of them. This year I have a lot of Tree Swallows, one house wren and one bluebird.
To improve the nesting success of the Eastern Bluebird & other cavity-nesting birds in the state of Michigan through education of our members and the general public, as well as promoting active nest box management and habitat improvement.
